Hi,

I am sasi working as a Software Engineering. I do my work at home when am out of office. I got inspired by the Sify Broadband advertisement and buyed the new connection from A.K.R. the local cable TV operator has got the franchise for sify bb. From the date I buyed I got problems.

First: The CTO says that we don’t have enough money to renew the pack. I do know who has given franchise for them. He is not able to renew the pack of the customer. This has happened to me for 3 times out of 6 times (date I bought connection).

Secondly: I often getting "BB101: unable to reach gateway" I called many times to customer care but the response was not good. The problem remains unresolved even today I got this problem.


People like am working from home have to be suffering by the connection. I suggest people to not go for Sify BB connection.

The service is awful

Hi

This is sameer from gurgaon.Its been 3 month I have subscribed to Sify BB connection .The service is awful , I am facing a dowtime of all 10 to 12 days in month .The local technical support staff (franchizes ) is not atoll bothered to solve customer problem , making false commitment of remediating problems in Hours time but it takes standered 3-4 days to correct the process .The staff from the franchize would rather insist on escalating issue with higher up then solving the problem .It is evedent that the entire chain of fuction lacks descipline .

I have had Sify for some time (almost a year).

I stay in Chennai and was originally in one area and have shifted to another. I have had Sify for some time (almost a year). While in the first house, the connection was surprisingly good. Unfortunately the connection in the new house is not good.
The first connection was a 64kbps connection (no comments please, it worked well for browsing) and speed tests showed a stable 57-61 kbps over a couple of weeks. Minimal connection troubles if any. The installation was strange. They had promised to come on one day and didn’t show up, so we called them and then they came the next day. Like Sushubh has said, the wireman did everything and worked on the basis on “these numbers in those boxes” but managed to get everything running fine. I was immediately happy with the connection.
The second one was also 64kbps. It gives only around 40kbps on speed tests and is very reluctant to connect properly.
Like Chinmoy Mitra says, it depends on the area you get the connection and the last mile local operator.
The best thing to do is to ask people in your area how their connection is and then get the same one. That way you won’t have any unpleasant surprises.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the Sify dialler actually causes troubles with Windows. I am quite good at maintaining my computer and the only times it has given trouble were 1) strangely, once after an automatic update and 2) after getting the sify connection. I solved the first one by a fresh re-installation (uninstalling the updates didn’t help :-( ) so the second time had nothing to do with the first. The problem after sify slowly crops up and gets worse week by week.
Does anyone else have any trouble due to the dialler, any new problems in Windows?
Before Sify, I was using Iqara. Service was good, connection uptime was average but the speeds were terrible. However, they didn’t use any fancy dialler, just good ol’ windows networking. Setup the connection through XP, no trouble at all. Connects quickly (when the network is not down). Why can’t others do the same ?

PLs pls never ever recommend Sify for any of your freinds

Really Pathetic
I am tired with calling countless number of times Sify customer care as my internet isnt working for the last 2 months . Sify themselfes agree that there is a breakdown but never end up giving a solution for the same.
PLs pls never ever recommend Sify for any of your freinds and even to your enemies.

Sify broadband right now

um…..people. I need some advice. I am on Sify broadband right now(256 kbps, or so they claim!!!!!! my connection is night unlimited(10:00 pm to 8:00 am) and on weekends, 150 MB usage during 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.

I download a lot from Torrent website. So, u know that it is difficult to download only at nights. Is ther a decent company which provides good broadband packages? I don’t mind the night unlimited stuff, but during the day time they shoud offer some decent hourly rate or something like that! i do not mind doling out anything from Rs 2,000 to maybe 3,000(if the package is good!). Please tell me. I live in Chennai and yes, i have had my share of problems with Sify. But then, there are problems with all ISP providers in India, Eh??? Please help me out.

First of all, let me tell you that i use the net for downloading a lot from torrent websites(p2p). i bought a sify package-1 month 1 GB. After paying Rs 1,800 as installation charges, the connection arrived as promised within a week.

Yes, i did have my gripes. At one point, the connection faltered out, though the engineers helped me out. I have now switched over to the night unlimited connection for Rs 630. It is not so bad. I would like to know if there is any other ISP provider who can offer a night unlimited with a day connection which can perhaps charge on an hourly basis.

Yes i would switch over to some other ISP provider. But all of them(Tata, BSNl, VSNL,Airtel and Of course, Sify) are equally bad. Please tell me about any other good package with any ISP provider. Sify has a 24 hour unlimited connection but download rate must be below 150 MB!!!!!!!!who are they kidding??? Please reply

monopoly and a sad ass customer care greet the eager broadband
customers!
unlimited internet dawns a new realm where 150 mb is supposedly unlimited!
at
a time when broadband speeds of 2-8 MBPS is avaliable for rates of
about Rs.1200 elsewhere in the us and uk, here we are in India,
suffering from unreliable and poor broadband with "blazing" speeds of
256kbps for.. Rs.1200!!
TRAI.. wake up and spank these providers!

there will come a day when competition will rule the market.. 256kbps
unlimited would cost 500 Rs.. but my dream is shatterd cuz i just
remembered that i have to call the customer care to get my internet
back online!!

Sify is totally RUBBISH

I am using Sify broadband in Rajkot. I have plan of 64kbps
worth Rs.511/- per node. I have got this connection before
1 month. But I am frustrated from Sify.
I am facing many problems since when i have got this connection. The major problem is Antivirus. If I dont want
to use antivirus with connection, how can they let me use forcefully. Any antivirus makes system very slow. I want to use internet with my responsibilities and conditions, but they are not responding. I never need to use antivirus.
I know how i can secure my pc’s from viruses. I can’t connect internet without antvirus. And second is its website www.sifymax.com. Everytime when logged in, this site is opened. I dont want to see this site.
Now its enough……I am tired……This is a worst Internet service provider. They are saying its 64kbps speed. I have had 128kbps DIAS BSNL with which, I could share in 7 pc’s. That was better speed than its 64kbps.
Sify is totally RUBBISH…..!

yeah thats true they disconnect the internet connection

yeah thats true they disconnect the internet connection @ night i have experianced it! but i have no other choice because no other operator is there in my area with a unlimited 256k connection
technically they disconnection from sify server side!

1) we can’t ping the DNS for say 15-20 min until the sesstion expires and so we have to log in again

I’ll tell you what are the fraud these sify people doing.

1. They giving unlimited package with restriction 150 MB during 8am-10pm and unlimited during nights 10pm-8am
2. When Put download in nights and see in the morning there is no download is happening. These people disconnect the login sessions. Because of that there is no download.
3. When i called cc, they telling they are open for all the 24*7*360 days. You have to call by the time it is down.
4. Is it is possible to see whether the connectivity is fine or not during night time every 15mins.
5. They refuse to give complaint number or compensation because we called in the morning where the connection is fine and they tell us the stupid reason that if you have downtime of 12hrs they will provide compensation.
6. The unlimited night hours itself is 10hrs how it is possible to get the compensation.
7. There is no connection re-establish as in the download software which try to retry the connection to make the download happening continuously.
8. Bandwidth, if it is 256 kpbs it means you will get 32 kilo bytes of speed. But what we getting is 28 kilo bytes
that is 224kbps
9. They putting the package in pipeline without the customer confirmation that leads to trouble. If you are putting download on final day of your pack and you left downloading then the pack in the pipeline will activated without your manual selection.
10.You know in west mambalam, chennai out of 450 people 200 not paid /renewed the connection this month. Manager for chennai region ask collection agent arrange customer to speak with manager directly.
11. Local cable provider who giving connection is a contractor who is not doing the service properly, everytime he is not available even for switch hang.
12. Once a agent called for renewal, i said the connectivity is not okay and service is too poor i’m unable to download. They he reply me to go for unlimited for 1100 for 256kbps. I asked him, i’m told connection is not okay they how you people ask me to take 1100 rs pack.
13. I’m tired calling customer care for compensation. This is just like begging for service, we paid for service and we begging for the compensation.
14. There is no alert system when you cross 150mb
15. sometimes what happen if i log off and see it not showing my how mb i have crossed, customer will over use the pack and get no. of days reduced.
16. They are very snail slow in rectifying the faults.
17. They not even listen to customer who have good knowledge about network and computers who narrates the exact problem.

i seem to have gone through the same experience. it is very frustrating to deal with the guys who are working on the field with sify. they were completely clueless about the technology the are working with. the services i have received is totally different from what a friend of mine has inspite of living just a KM away.
